Why I Built Posture Pomodoro

I’m Kyle Banta, a software engineer who has spent years hunched over a computer working from a desk. After too many long days at my computer, I started dealing with neck pain, a knot in my back, and a low back on fire by the end of the day. I tried standing desks, re-arranging my monitors, and ergonomic chairs, but none of it really made a difference.

I eventually realized the problem wasn’t the setup, it was that I just wasn't moving enough. Simple as that. So I built Posture Pomodoro, a posture app that combines the Pomodoro technique with short movement routines you can perform at your desk. It’s a simple system that keeps me focused while taking care of my body.

The Problem with Sitting All Day

Working at a desk might seem harmless, but over time it takes a real toll on the body. Sitting for long stretches keeps your hip flexors tight, weakens your glutes and core, and causes your shoulders to round forward. Blood flow slows down, your joints stiffen, and small aches turn into chronic pain.

That’s why so many of us end the day with sore backs, stiff necks, and tension we can’t seem to shake. When your muscles stay inactive for hours, they lose the support and mobility they need to keep you upright and pain-free.

How Posture Pomodoro Helps

Posture Pomodoro makes it easy to move again. It builds short, guided posture breaks into your work sessions — gentle movements that release tension, open the chest, and re-engage muscles that go quiet while sitting. These breaks only take a minute or two, but they keep your body limber and your posture strong all day.

  • ✅ Simple, guided posture and mobility breaks
  • ✅ Desk-friendly stretches for neck, shoulders, and hips
  • ✅ Customizable work and rest intervals
  • ✅ Built right into your browser — no downloads or setup

You can try it right now — open the timer and start your first session.
